The majid crab's camouflage is a perfect protection from predators. Consider how difficult it is to find such a tiny crab living perfectly camouflaged in a Dendronephthya tree such as this one, which is about 40-50 cm high and about as wide. Any large predator would also have to combat the coral's mass of sharp spiny polyps to reach the crab.
