In this photograph of the same pygmy seahorse, you can see the animal much more clearly because it is not hiding as deeply within the structure of the fan. Note in this photograph and in the one above, how the seahorse has a number of knobby protuberances on its body that mimic the closed polyps of the fan. Note also the small white tufts spread over the seahorse's entire body and head. These white patches match the whitish color of the polyp tentacles when they are open.
