Lembeh Strait is known to many as "the muck diving capital of the world". The area is often known in diving circles by the name of the Kungkungan Bay Resort or just KBR, a resort and dive center located near the center of the Strait. Since we are muck diving junkies we have made 3 trips to Lembeh and plan to go back at least once a year for the foreseeable future. Indonesia is located in the region of highest diversity of ocean species, but it is the special physical and geological charcteristics of Lembeh Strait that make it so different from most dive locations. On this page and its associated slide shows, we have attempted to illustrate the very different species assemblages that are found at various dive sites in Lembeh Strait. Within the next few months, we will add more information about the special characteristics of the ecosystems found at divesites in Lembeh Strait.
At present, you may view different slide shows representing each of 8 of the frequently dived sites in Lembeh Strait. There are also 2 additional slide shows representing our images of fishes and of invertebrates and other species photographed in Lembeh Strait at divesites other than those for which there is an individual slide show.
The Lembeh slide shows can be started by clicking the links below or you may go to our Slide Show Selection Page where you can customize the slide shows (especially useful if you are on a slow web connection) and access slide shows from locations other than Lembeh. Please note that all images in these slide shows are also included in our Fishes and Invertebrates/Scenes portfolio pages.Slide Shows - Lembeh Strait, Sulawesi, Indonesia
